WhatsApp Adopts Blue for its Verification Icon

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, appears to be keeping itself busy with the continuous development of its renowned messaging platform. Among the latest innovations are the introduction of Meta AI assistants and AI stickers, which were recently rolled out in the United States.

Amidst these updates, WhatsApp is making a subtle yet notable alteration to its account verification icon. Originally, the icon featured a green color scheme that matched the WhatsApp app logo. However, it is now undergoing a transformation, adopting a new shade of blue.

This discovery was made by the team at WABetaInfo. In WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.23.20.18, they spotted the change in the color of the account verification icon. This change is applicable not only to individual accounts but also extends to Channels and all verified business accounts.

In the past, Meta offered a verification icon known as “Meta Verified,” which could be obtained through a subscription-based model. This package included a range of features and extensive support designed to enhance the Meta app experience for users.

Meta’s decision to modify the color of the verification icon goes beyond mere aesthetics; it represents a strategic move by the company to align with the branding associated with the name “Meta.” The aim is to create a consistent visual identity across all platforms within the Meta ecosystem.

Now, the question arises: do you prefer the traditional green or the new blue for the verification icon?
