Review of Call of Duty – Modern Warfare II (Campaign): A Global Conflict That is More Silent!

The charm of Call of Duty is no longer like it was a decade ago. Almost every gamer who has tried this franchise certainly still remembers the charm and epic experience offered in almost every timeline, from World at War, Modern Warfare, to the fantastic Black Ops. The peak of that failure occurred with Call of Duty: Vanguard yesterday, which was even acknowledged by Activision itself as a product that failed to meet expectations to the point that it changed the release style of Call of Duty from annual to biennial, missing 2023. Nevertheless, there is always something special about the Infinity Ward release.

Following the success of their 2019 reboot through Modern Warfare that offered new storylines and characters but with familiar names, Infinity Ward is finally back with its sequel series – Modern Warfare II. Its approach remains the same, a sequel series for 2019 that brings familiar names but with different conflicts, storylines, and characterizations. It will be interesting to see where Infinity Ward will take it, considering the original Modern Warfare II in 2009 introduced an explosive Hollywood-style conflict escalation.

So, what exactly does the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II campaign mode offer? Why do we refer to it as a game that offers a quieter global conflict? This review will delve deeper into it for you.

US’ need to “address” their potential future threats ultimately led to them having to kill one of Iran’s generals – Ghorbrani in a mission executed by Ghost under the leadership of General Shepherd.

As predicted, Ghorbrani’s death ignited a revenge effort by his right-hand man – Hassan. Ghost and Soap’s efforts to capture Hassan uncovered a new and terrifying mystery, that somehow this Iranian special forces member had access to a long-range missile that was clearly American property. Efforts to uncover what Hassan was hiding led to a conflict involving more places and parties.

It all becomes more complex when Hassan, the successor, is found to have access to a long-range missile that clearly belongs to the United States of America.

Not only Iran, but even the Mexican cartel is involved.

Hassan wants not only to use the long-range missile, but he also brings the conflict to the United States of America. In the process of smuggling himself and the missile that is the key to his victory, he involves the large Mexican cartel – Las Almas. As expected, the difficult battle against a cartel that already dominates the city is just the beginning of the information being revealed about the involvement of more parties, from PMCs to Russia.

What conspiracy is actually taking place?

Can the Task Force 141, consisting of Soap, Price, and Ghost, save the United States for the nth time? Where is the dangerous missile stored? What kind of conspiracy is actually behind it? You can get all the answers to these questions by playing the campaign mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
