There’s a reason why terms like “phobia” often represent deeply personal fears that can be hard for many to understand. Phobias, by definition, involve irrational fears that people may develop due to certain traumatic experiences.
One of the most common phobias? Arachnophobia. An intense fear of spiders or spider-like creatures is something many people experience, and it’s no surprise that some game developers are now starting to consider this for players.
Following in the footsteps of games like Grounded, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Hogwarts Legacy, Monster Hunter Wilds will also include an arachnophobia mode, designed to ease the experience for players with this fear.
This feature, already available in the open beta, will swap spider-like creatures with slime-based monsters. However, Capcom has not yet shared further details on how the mode will handle fights against spider-inspired monsters like the Lala Barina in the full game.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set for release on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. What about you? Will you be using this new feature?
