For several months, WhatsApp has hinted that it’s developing a chat theme feature for Android, and now, according to WABetaInfo, this feature is finally being rolled out in the latest Beta version 2.24.21.34. So, what does this exciting new feature look like?
WhatsApp already had a theme function, but it applied universally to all chats. Now, you can personalize each chat’s appearance individually. This is similar to a feature that has been available on Facebook Messenger for a while, and chat themes are also now available for WhatsApp’s iOS version.
Users will have around 20 different colors to choose from, along with over 22 textured themes. After selecting a theme, the message bubble colors will automatically adjust. However, users can still change the wallpaper without affecting the previously chosen message colors.
Interestingly, unlike Messenger, themes on WhatsApp are private. Each participant in a conversation can customize their chat theme without affecting how the chat looks for other users.
This feature will offer more flexibility to customize the appearance of your chats to match your personal preferences. However, it’s important to note that not all users can access this feature yet, as it’s still in beta. Hopefully, it will be released for everyone soon!
